13 DPO. As if I _needed_ a 7th test... but I wanted to see how much darker it was getting and boy was today's 2 lines dark! Forget pink -- it was purple! Temps went triphasic too. Hooray!

Friday, May 30, 2003

Bigs hugs and thanks to all the reader well wishes and good vibes! It's great to hear from all of you and I'll be sure to share the comments with Paul when he's home. Special congrats to Wendy, since she's going one week ahead of me through her first pregnancy! :)

Slept a lot, and ate 2 toasted sourdough and cheese sandwiches for lunch with ginger ale. Tres exciting fare. But I'm not quite so queasy so that's a plus. Just farty -- that's the latest thing I suppose -- feeling like I want to fart and not actually being able to toot one. When I hear the first heart beat at a check up I will probably feel it is more "real" but right now it just feels like weird indigestion.

My allergist is not in til next Tues, but the doc on call told me to quit the Advair (hoooorayyyyy!) and since I just had my first shot this week, probably to quite the shots too since it hadn't built up to a beneficial level yet (hooooooorayyyy!), and the nurse called in a pescription for a different inhaler (boo! hiss!). I hope it tastes better than the Advair. Dr. P. will call me next week to reconfirm all this.

Dr. H. wants me to quit the Glucophage and I had to change my June 27 appt to June 9, so now I'll have to go June 2 for my bloodwork so they have it for the 9th. Dizzying instructions! I don't get to see him -- I'll see Julie, nurse practitioner. They're probably going to want to monitor my thyroid.

Shoot. Just realized I forgot to call Dr. Y., the dentist, so I can get my cleaning and Paul's cleaning out of the way.

Woke up at 3 AM needing to pee so I took another test -- still 2 lines. Back to sleep. Got up at 8 AM, temps still high. Took Levoxyl and the Advair and it made me gag so much I threw up. Ew! Rotten, bastardly Advair. Poo! Brushed teeth, washed, dressed. Drove to doc's office.

Once there checked in, gave pee sample, got weighed, blood pressured, sent to an exam room and then Sari walked in with all smiles and congratulations. My (6th!) pee test was 2 lines at the doc's office. Gave Sari my chart and said she'd rather go by the beta rather than by calendar to tell me how far along I am since my cycle is so long and unusual. Had quantative beta done and will know from that Tues or Wed. how far along I am. I'm guessing I'm closing in on 4 weeks. Sari and the lab lady both had a Dr. G. deliver their kids and they both liked him and his nurse-midwife so next week I'll set up my first appt with the OB. If I like him I'll keep him, otherwise I'll have to find someone else I like.

Came home. Told Paul. He asked me several times if I was yanking his chain or what. I kept telling him that I wasn't trying to mess with his mind and he accused me of having done it before. Called Dr H. (Endoc.) and Dr. P. (allergist) so I can have my meds updated. Paul overheard me while getting his keys and came to the kitchen with a strange look on his face and said if I was making calls then I def. wasn't teasing him and that somewhere betweem leaving the house and getting to work it would sink in and he'd be in shock.

I'm not in shock. I'm pleased, queasy, and I'm going back to sleep. Maybe when I wake up later I'll have more time to be more shocked about it.

  • What: Water Aerobics

  • Duration: 60 minutes

First workout in a while and I feel good about getting through it but it was by no means the BEST workout ever.

First I put on my blue bathing suit and the plastic clip in the back broke off. That does it for me -- I'm NEVER buying a bathing suit with any kind of plastic thingie on it. I scrounged around for the purple Speedo, got it on (thank goodness it fits better now) and sped to the pool. Once in class, I had to do a lot of the moves with my eyes closed because with my eyes open, all that bobbing around was making me feel queasy. My breasts hurt like crazy too -- they're tender and I was really glad for the support in the speedo but even so... I couldn't go too hard because they just ache. Then I got hungry --- super duper hungry. I've been noticing that if I'm not queasy I am ravenous. So that was distracting and I was getting a bit grumpy but now that I've eaten, rested, and feel more settled, I'm glad I went.

Some sharp little needle-like pain in my lower abs today, minor queasy, but very sore boobs. Some chest muscle pain in between boobs too. Spotting again a tiny bit this evening. Oh, and I had a bloody nose, but I'm pretty sure that's from my stupid Rhinocort nose spray. Dr. P said to go back to Rhinocort because it's better if I'm pregnant than the Nasonex. But the Rhino always gives me nosebleeds because it dries my nose so much. Blah.

11 DPO. 2 lines again. much faster, slightly darker. Tiny bit of spotting, less than before. Waking temps up to 98.5. Waiting to see if it will go triphasic. Appt. tomorrow. Whee!

Wednesday, May 28, 2003

10 DPO. Another HPT with another 2 lines. Still queasy. Temps still up.

Tuesday, May 27, 2003

Some spotting... on 9 DPO! I decided to take an HPT and it was 2 lines. So tomorrow morning I'll take another if it's another 2 lines then I'll make a Friday or Monday appointment at my GP to get a blood test done. I'll have to show Sari my wacky chart.

I've had false plus lines before so I'm not going to get wound up over it until I get a blood test confirming it.

Pregnancy.org has a nice pregnancy calendar. I was reading the last few entries with a conception date of May 18th.

May 26 -- Early pregnancy symptoms include sore breasts, cramping, mild nausea, fatigue, increased irritability, or sometimes you might not feel anything at all -- in which case you're blessed.

May 27 -- Morning sickness could set in. Your brain might not know your pregnant but your body sure does.

May 28 -- The blastocyst contacts the endometrium.

So things look interesting...

The strange stomach problems continue. It's no longer nausea... still a little of that gaggy, throw uppy feeling but mostly it's this weird churning. WTF!? If this keeps up, I'm going to have to make a Friday appt. at the doc. Today I see the allergist. Sigh.

Been missing them the last few rounds... so here goes...

Progress Prompt:

Now that summer has started (at least in some areas), what are your thoughts and feelings about wearing a bathing suit? Have you purchased it yet? If so, what does it look like? Where did you buy it? How did you feel when you bought it? Do you have a pool where you live and do you plan to use it regularly?

As far as I'm concerned, bathing suit season never stops in Florida. Granted in winter I seek out heated, preferably indoor pools, but I can still swim. So I've got bathing suits galore in a range of sizes! And since I've been taking water aerobics class for the last 9 mos. I go through them quickly.

I don't feel at all strange about wearing a bathing suit. I'm there to swim or aerobicize, not lounge around. I know some people get shy about it because bathing suits show it all. I don't. I'm not going to be wearing something too sexy, but neither and I going to hide in shirts, shorts, or worse yet -- skirted, flowery horrors. The only thing is that it is usually a one piece with sufficient bra support. I have a large bust and I just cannot deal with flimsy suits or boob jiggle.

I'm constantly looking for them on sale online, ebay, Target, Ross, department store clearance, etc. I don't care where it comes from or what brand it is. So long as it is a one piece with good bra support and fits well, I take it. I'm actually a bit desparate at the moment to get another because I'm down to one functioning bathing suit since I had to return the tankini-looking-but-really-a-one-piece red and blue one because it broke at the beach. I'm always ahppy with the ones I buy because I do a lot of wriggling in the dressing room to make sure the fit is good. I've yet to have one disappointment as far as fit goes. But damn... constantly being on swimsuit patrol whenever I'm out in a shop can be tiring. Just yesterday I hit Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, JCPenney, and Dillards! came home with nothing -- way too flimsy for class.

My favorite kind? Reversible so I get it both fully lined and can change colors/patterns at whim. It's also either a racerback or a cross back -- those offer the best support for me. No clips, hooks or decorative items. They always break or fall off! But reversibles are hard to find... so I keep looking.

I dreamt a lot of weird things last night. That I was in a Three Investigators book trying to solve a mystery. But that's because I've been on a kid book kick and reading a lot of them. I also dreamt I was doing the Disney half marathon. Only instead of starting through Epcot, we started through MGM and Downtown Disney which were strangely intertwined. Then after doing about 6 miles, these ladies and I decided to stop for a snack at one of their hotel rooms. And one of my college photography teachers showed up. Then I asked if we shouldn't get back to the race so we did. But then by mile 10 it started to rain, and for some reason I took a bus home -- my childhood home, not my current home. Once there I found my sister watching TV and she asked me why I just didn't finish the race since I was practically done and I was wet from the rain any way. I didn't have an answer.

I suspect being sick all week and not getting any walks done has been preying on my mind.

Friday, May 23, 2003

Slight fever... 99 deg. I feel hot. I wish I could throw up. I feel so nasty... I know if I could just throw up I'd start to feel better. And I HATE to throw up when I'm sick so you know how bad I must be feeling to be wishing it would just happen so I could get it over with. Ugh, ugh. :(

Thursday, May 22, 2003

Still queasy and blah. Also having knee pain for some crazy reason. I don't know why, since I haven't done any exercise while sick. Paul went to work today after staying home most of the week. I hope he feels ok -- twice he set off only to come back later because he started feeling nasty again. Fine pair we make. :P

On a different note... I've been charting for a year this week! I think I'm wrapping up cycle 6 too. I knew my June check up with Dr. Hall would be a year of TTC but it's strange to look at all my charts.

Monday, May 19, 2003

I have had hiccups allllll day! I can't make them stop and it's making me feel exra gross since I'm also queasy. Paul stayed home from work because he felt bad Sat AND Sun so I hope I haven't caught whatever he's got.

Sunday, May 18, 2003

No formal exercise. But I stink to high heaven and if Paul doesn't come back inside soon I'm going to jump in the shower without him. Today we went to Lowe's and got topsoil, fertilizer, some periwinkles, and a new window handle thingie. Then when we got back because we thought it was going to rain, we went right to work. He pressure washed the iguana cages and patio while I started planting all the plants I want to plant. I got half way through it when I felt hot and dizzy so I quit, told him I was going inside to lie down. The heat is crazy. Welcome to summer.

  • What: Casual Walking
  • Distance: 4 miles
  • Steps: 9883

Went to Universal Studios today. Lunch at Margaritaville -- crab cake sandwich for me with a pina colada. Mmm. Jumbalaya for Paul.

A lot of casual walking in spurts as we explored. The longest continous stint was for 30 min at 3 mph -- on our way out of the park, through City Walk, through the parking garages, and finally to the car. It didn't feel like it was a little over a mile to get out but that probably was because there was a lot to be looking at while walking along. People, shops, signs, lights, music, etc. Had a good time. A little bit of ankle pain but we took a lot of breaks when we were riding rides so it wasn't like I was on my feet nonstop. Bloody hot today though. Must remember to wear river sandals, board shorts, and a tankini rather than sneakers, T-shirt, and sneakers next time. Then I could jsut hose off at the various water stations around the park without it being a drag to dry later.

I think going around the City Walk lake thing is about a mile. Will have to try it sometime on a long walk day. At the very least it would be an interesting walk option at night.

  • What: Treadmill walk
  • Duration: 25 minutes
  • Distance: 1.1 miles
  • Speed: 2.6 mph
  • Ave Heart Rate: 121
  • Steps: 2379

  • Calories: 127

Got through my warm up at 2.6 mph and then I had to stop to put Tiger Balm all over my leg where it's twitching at me. Went on for a bit without starting the intervals I planned for today to see how my leg was going to behave and it felt gross. Cut the walk short. Now I'm kind of worried about tomorrow because we are going to be walking quite a bit. Nrrgh.

For Wednesday...

  • What: Lower Body Weights
  • Duration: 35 minutes
  • Ave Heart Rate: 109
  • Calories: 185

And...

  • What: Treadmill walk
  • Duration: 42 minutes
  • Distance: 1.7 miles
  • Ave Heart Rate: 141
  • Steps: 3621

  • Calories: 185

Spent all day at my parents helping Dad make a cardboard liner for his little red wagon so it wouldn't scratch the pain when he loads it up with garden stuff. It's the basic Radio Flier where mine is the one with wooden slats on top. And he said I was crazy whne I bought a red wagon my freshman year of college. Ten years later and he goes to get himself one. Ha! Those things are so handy. Apart form making Paul give me rides in it that is. Couldn't get Mom to let me give her a ride -- she told me I was nuts.

Exercised at night. The weights workout was pretty uneventful. Just kind of got through it. The walk was nice. It was intervals for speed so I warmed up for 10 min, then ten (2) min. intervals alternating from 3.2 mph. and 3.5 mph. Then a 5 min cool down. I was going for 10 but I had to stop it because I had a toe cramp up. It was weird and it made walking very uncomfortable. I had to stop a lot to adjust my shoe laces too -- sometimes I get them on perfect and other times I can't be happy with how they are laced. Maybe it was the socks? They were crew Thorlos rather than quarter Thorlos. They were the only ones that were clean so even though they are not m favs, I wore them.

For Thursday...

  • What: Swimming

  • Duration: 40 minutes

  • Distance: 35 laps (1 mile)

And...

  • What: Water Aerobics

  • Duration: 60 minutes

Felt that weight workout in my quads today. Whew! Class was good -- I felt pretty upbeat and energetic although every once in a while my right leg was bothering me. It happened while I was doing laps too. I've either got a cramp or I strained it somehow sometime. I know I've stubbed my toe recently and it's somewhere in my toes so maybe that is what it is from. It's mild and only aches sporadically but still... I need to watch it. Took Holly to the airport this morning so she won't be in class for the next few sessions. Claudia complimented me on my form today -- that felt good.

Tuesday, May 13, 2003

  • What: Swimming

  • Duration: 40 minutes

  • Distance: 35 laps (1 mile)

  • What: Water Aerobics

  • Duration: 60 minutes

Dad is home and doing fine. Turned out to be a UTI and he had to take antibiotics and rehydrate. I'm going to see him tomorow morning.

Got to class early and did laps. Claudia was determined to work us hard today but this time I kept up and felt energized rather than beat. Maybe I was too run down last week? I'm going to take Tues. and Thurs. walks out and then stick to the rest. Maybe it will go bettter this week if I'm not over cardio-ing... The 45 min stroll ones aren't the important walks and I just realized that the first time Adrith and I did this schedule we'd gotten it from Active.com and it wasn't until Walking Magazine reprinted that we realized that there were missing walks. Active.com never printed the "stroll" walks.

Shit! My mom just called from ER to tell me Dad has passed out and they are trying to figure out why he fainted. Going to their house in a bit when she calls again to tell me they are home.

Monday, May 12, 2003

So yesterday we went to see Paul's mother and grandmother. His grandmother is getting to 3rd stage Alzheimer's. His mom gave us new keys to the house because she had to change all the twist bolts to key bolts on the doors so Mawmaw can't get out if she takes it into her head to start wandering around. Mom's been attending support meeting for relatives/caregivers of Alzheimer patients and Mawmaw is still going to the senior center for half the day each morning. I told Paul on the way home that Mom was looking invigorated. I think having Mawmaw leave for a few hours each day is helping.

We got home and I had a headache again so I napped. Paul said I keep getting them around 7-8 PM every night. What's that mean? My temps are rock solid except for one little dip lately. If they were higher, I'd be thinking pregnancy and waiting to the 18 day. Right now I don't know what to think.

So, as far as last week, 3 out of 6 walks done, and 2 out of 2 water aerobics classes done. And I hit 55% done on my Presidential Sports Award. By early June I think I can mail that one off. Yay!

Sunday, May 11, 2003

  • What: Treadmill walk

  • Distance: 1.6 miles
  • Ave Speed: 2.6 mph
  • Ave Heart Rate: 129
  • Steps: 4039

  • Calories: 185

And...

  • What: Swimming
  • Duration: 52 laps
  • Distance: 1.5miles

After water aerobics Thursday I zonked out. Felt really gross. That continued to Friday so I missed both those walks. Today I almost called Holly to beg off having to go do laps but I figured I could just not do them if I didn't want to do them. I don't know how I got through it, but I did.. Actually I do know how... they were having life guard trainign and the instructor is really, really cute... so we kept swimming back and forth just to keep oogling him. The laps racked up before I realized it.

Took Mom and Dad to Animal Kingdom Lodge's Boma restaurant to eat and it was very tasty. Lots of different things on the buffet to try with a Caribbean or African slant to it. The only thing that disappointed me was the flat bread -- too salty. Everything else was delicious!

Felt better when I got back so I knocked out Sunday's 40 min walk at a slow pace. Lots of itty bitty steps -- I wasn't feeling esp. energetic but at leasst it's out of the way. If we get back from seeing Paul's mom tomorrow early then I'll get the 50 m in walk done too. Then I can get on with next week and try to keep up a little better with the schedule.

Paul thinks I should take a pregnancy test because for the last few days I've been so blah. I don't know... I have to wait a few more days before testing would do any good.

Friday, May 09, 2003

MAJOR cramps today. Headache is fierce. I just want to crawl under a rock. :P

Thursday, May 08, 2003

  • What: Swimming

  • Duration: 20 minutes

  • What: Water Aerobics

  • Duration: 60 minutes

OMG, class kicked my butt today. Maybe I had a horrible walk yesterday not just becuase things were going wrong but because I was starting to feel bad? Because in clas today I felt like I was dragging. I'm all PMS tired and stuff. Paul said I've been kicking him in my sleep so I'm definitely not at my best.
I got the study stuff about Symbicort. Mom thinks I shouldn't do it. Paul says if I want to do it, and it looks safe, to go ahead. Me? I'm still in two minds aboutit. I have to read all this paperwork and go over it with Paul.

  • What: Treadmill walk
  • Duration: 30 minutes
  • Details: 10 min warm up @ 2.5 | 20 min intervals from 3.0 - 3.5 | 2 min cool down]
  • Distance: 1.1 miles
  • Ave Speed: n/a mph
  • Ave Heart Rate: 136
  • Steps: 2815
  • Calories: 131

Doooom! Doooom! That's all I was thinking while doing this horrid walk. Everything was just not going right. First I accidentally wiped out User Defined Program #1, so there went my whole speed interval workout that I'd set earlier. Too grouchy to dig up the manual and reprogram it so I decided to compromise with preset #3 -- a mix of speed and hill intervals. Fine. Then my calves start to hurt. Then my headache from earlier this afternoon is back. Then my heart rate monitor starts beeping at me. And then my shorts tag strats scratch, scratch, scratching my lower back with every step. I promised myself I could put off starting weights til next week if I jsut got through this horible walk. So now it's done. There.

And with Mother's Day this weekend, I'm going to have to do some creative scheduling. Poo!

Wednesday, May 07, 2003

Amy is thinking about doing the Disney half-marathon. Since she and Mike are also TTC, she's got the same pregnancy concern I do. I still haven't gotten a call from the study people but whether I get into the study or not I think I'm going to take a TTC break until Sept.

My left ankle is a bit wonky this morning. I must have jumped on it strange in water aerobics last night.

  • What: Swimming

  • Duration: 30 minutes

  • What: Water Aerobics

  • Duration: 60 minutes

Got to the pool early so I got to do laps before class. Water was really great!

Huge water aerobics class this time so it was a bit of a drag but they'd taken the lane lines out so that helped a bit. May 27th we're going to have to sign up on some kind of sheet thing and class is going ot be limited to 15 people, first come, first serve. That's going to suck... Wish they'd just hire another teacher and open more time slots instead.

  • What: Treadmill walk
  • Duration: 45 minutes [10 min warm up @ 2.5 | 35 min @ 3.2 | 10 min at 2.5 cool]
  • Distance: 2.6 miles
  • Ave Speed: 3.5 mph
  • Ave Heart Rate: 138
  • Steps: 5466
  • Calories: 113

There. One day crossed off. Pretty easy walk while watching When Harry Met Sally. I need to rent some new movies or else I'm going to be stuck in a movie rut this week.
Fuuuuuuck. Last week?!

I was talking to Adrith yesterday over lunch and she told me she was glad I'd forwarded some Disney e-mail because they'd opened extra slots for the half-marathon and she made it in. It's a popular race. I remember staying up the night registration was to open just so we could sign up and be in for sure. We talked about training again. We've been kicking that around for months trying to decide what to do.

I know I want to keep water aerobics and lap swim in, because I really dig it.

I know I want to work in more weights because training gets so cardio intensive I feel like it neglects strength sometimes.

I've experimented with schedules and printed them out trying to fit in everything I want -- including at least one whole day of rest and some easy workout days. I decide to go with one and then another looks better. Fuss, fuss. Then I gave up on it and decided just to go back to tried and true -- a modified Walking magazine's marathon schedule first and then the NF schedule (really Galloway). 37 weeks, people. And I should have started last week. Hence... fuuuuuck. :P

We start here then. Week 2, Tuesday. Off to treadmill. 45 min stroll. Sigh.

Monday, May 05, 2003

Hmmph. Where was that in 1997?
Woke up very thirsty. Very, very thirsty. Next time I go to the beach and then to the pool the next day I have to make an effort to drink a LOT more water than I did. So fucking thirsty. Ugh. And sore. My whole body is sore. How can I sleep this way? Ugh.

So then part of me is like... well, it's 5:13 AM. Gym is open. If you really can't sleep you may as well get dressed and get that out of the way for today.

I must have a screw loose in my head. Thirsty and sore and sleepy I'm thinking about elliptical trainer-ing. Jeez.

  • What: Swimming

  • Duration: 40 minutes

  • Distance: 1 mile

Boy, I am TAN! Whatever didn't toast yesterday at the beach got toasted today at the pool despite my hat and hiding beneath a towel. I have to get more sunscreen when we shop this afternoon. Swim was good although we got there at 10:30 rather than 10 and I think next weekend we'll try to make it on the hour rather than later because now that school is letting out there were loooooads of kids there and they didn't stay out of the lap lanes. Got the mile done and then we ate lunch and played around a bit. When it was adult swim time (last 15 min out of every hour) we were in the deep end some little boy demanded to know how old we were because it was adult swim and it was not fair that we were still in the pool when all the kids had to get put. Holly and I informed him that we were 28 and 27 respectively and he hmmphed and told us we had to be lying and he looked like he was trying to figure out how to complain about us sneaking into adult swim. We laughed at him and resisted the urge to go "Nyaaaaah! Nyaaaaaah! We're in the pool and you aren't! Nyaaaah!"

Very adult, I'm sure. Hee!

Saturday, May 03, 2003

No formal exercise -- today we went to Jetty Park with Donna, Greg, and the kids. Paul and Greg alternated fishing with the beach but we girls staked out the beach all day and played. Had a freaky moment in the water when I stepped on a small sting ray but I jerked my foot back up and it flapped away. We probably startled each other. Also had to keep and eye out for jellyfish but for the most part, it was very relaxing and a lot of fun. I got a good tan going despite the sunscreen and Paul didn't sunscreen as well as I did and he got some burns on his head and his legs. He's just going ot have to fish in jeans if he's not going to put on enough sunscreen and there is no doubt about it --- he HAS to wear his hat even though he hates hats. The kids had a blast playing in the sand and Donna and I had a chance to talk and catch up. We really need to try to get together more often and I know we say that all the time but really... we should.

Friday, May 02, 2003

Mom loved her pecan bread and then went on a mad recipe hunt because the next one she wants me to try is some raisin and cheese bread she always wanted but never made. Her recipe collection is incredible -- all these photocopies from periodicals bound into a book. Dad harumphed at being my guinea pig but then got into a fight with Mom over who was going to have the next slice on the plate. Sooner or later I'm going to hit upon the perfect Christmas bread for food gifting this year. I just have to keep trying.

I got e-mail from the Disney marathon people... I'm going to have to check hotels some time in the next few months. But I need to tidy up the house and get laundry together if we're going fishing and to the beach...

Weigh-In Wednesday: What have you started enjoying in your quest to lose weight or get in shape?

Being a bit more active and eating better.

Both are HUGE changes for me since I've always tended to live in my head and not really care about anything else. I wasn't especially active in my youth and I wasn't especially mindful of healthy eating either. After 14, I never exercised since PE was no longer required and even when it was required, I wasn't exactly a star. I got B's in PE for making an effort and participating, but I certainly didn't make A's for exceling in games! My breakfast and lunch of those years consisted of a cold pepsi for breakfast and a bag of M&Ms at lunch and all the coffee I could swipe from Mrs. White's office.

These days? I know I'm certainly better about exercise when I'm looking at racing in January, but in the off times I still try to do something a few times a week. My interest waxes and wanes but overall it's def. better than before. On the food front I also make more of an effort. Don't doubt that I'm sincere either -- I've gone months and months with nary a change in my shape or weight but I still kept up with trying to be active and eat healthy. I had to like doing it to keep it up then otherwise I would have thrown in the towel and given it up.

I have to confess though -- I love, love, love seeing pounds drop off again without changing any of my habits. I knew I was doing the right things. I knew being patient was going to pay off eventually. Six weeks since my check-up with Dr. Hall and I'm 5 lbs lighter!

Seriously, I think I could have kissed him when he told me my thyroid levels were normal again.

  • What: Water Aerobics

  • Duration: 60 minutes

DIdn't write last night so here goes...It's been so nice the last couple of times that I wanted to get to class early to do laps but I only got there about 20 min early rather than 45 like I wanted. Putting sunscreen all over and John Frieda's "life preserver" in my hair took a LOT longer than I thought. Class was nice and small for a change -- less than 10 people instead of 20+. So I didn't have to run away to the middle lane and I had plenty of room. Wore the new bathing suit and I liked it a lot -- very supportive

Near the en dof class I overheard one of the other people in class talking. I overheard one older woman wonder what those "jigglies" were called (ie: triceps) and what to do about them and another older woman tell her that there is nothing she could do because as people got older the muscle "just comes off the bones" and you can't get it back on.

Eeek! I know that isn't true, and of course with weight training and body fat loss you CAN lose the jigglies but the image of my muscles falling OFF my bones just totally grossed me out! Boy, the strange myths you hear...

I made fresh rye bead and mom's pecan pinwheel bread. They turned out well but I think with the pecan one I will add some cinnamon next time. Off to go take it to mom now...

Hooray, Special K! Just got home froman early lab appointment. I can finally break my fast and EAT! Hooray! I like my nurse -- she does a good job of sticking me and drawing blood with minimal pain and fuss. Thank goodness it is over though -- I hate fasting and I hate being shot. But how I loooove my morning cereal... mmmm!
